Who Are We?

At Familias Unidas Counseling Center, we believe in the power of healing, education, and empowerment. Our mission is to serve diverse communities through compassionate mental health care, high-quality professional training, and holistic services for personal growth.

We offer psychological evaluations for immigration cases and bariatric clients, ensuring that our assessments are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and clinically sound.Our online courses support social workers preparing for their licensing exams and licensed clinicians seeking specialized training in immigration evaluations.

In addition to evaluations and training, we provide individual therapy for crime victims and bariatric clients, both before and after surgery, addressing emotional well-being at every stage of the process. We also offer numerology consultations, combining intuition and personal development to guide our clients and entrepreneurs toward meaningful life decisions.

Who is Amanda Banda?

Hello and welcome!

I’m the founder of Familias Unidas Counseling Center, a place created from the heart to serve those taking brave steps in their lives. As an immigrant who came to the U.S. as a child, I know what it’s like to rebuild with a small suitcase and the hope of the American Dream.

My story in a few words

  • I grew up in a home with personal challenges, and those experiences inspired me to help others.
  • I studied at the University of Southern California (USC) and, through hard work, earned three degrees.
  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California, Texas, and Florida, with over a decade of experience working in mental health in schools, jails, the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health, and now in my own clinic.

Why Did I Create Familias Unidas?

Because I saw the need for a bilingual, culturally sensitive space with flexible hours where families can find real support without waiting for months. Since we began, we have provided over 5,000 immigration evaluations and have earned the trust of more than 400 law firms.

My Message to You

A professor once told me, “Minorities don’t graduate.” Instead of holding me back, those words fueled my determination. Today, I can proudly say I graduated three times: with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Social Work, and finally through much effort a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Leadership.

If I could do it, so can you!

With faith in God and determination, anything is possible. My mission is to help you become the best version of yourself whether you’re healing from trauma, launching your career, or fighting for your family.
